This year, we are excited to read through Judy Cha's book, "Who You Are: Internalizing the Gospel to Find Your True Identity." I personally found this book to be so healing and helpful in understanding myself better, especially in light of the Gospel. I knew it would be a great small group book as soon I as finished it! In addition to regular discussions, we look forward to fun fellowship activities with old and new friends during this next season. We have an 8 year old daughter who is excited to meet some new friends as well! We live in Englewood Cliffs but will plan to meet on a rotating home basis. We're excited to embark on this new season with you all!

Faith shapes every part of our lives—from the everyday ordinary to life-changing events. Even taking time to slow down and rest with Jesus is an act of faith. Together, we’ll explore what it means to rest in God’s presence, receive His love, and be free from measuring our worth by our performance. Through The Word, prayer, and honest talk, we’ll learn to live as God’s beloved in a culture that constantly asks for more. To build connection and community, members will have the opportunity to host gatherings throughout the session.

Come as you are. Grow together. Pray boldly. We want our small group to be a place where you can come as your whole, authentic self—where you feel known, accepted, and safe to share both the joys and challenges of life. We hope to build a community where we genuinely encourage and lift one another up, walk alongside each other through the ups and downs, and grow deeper in our faith together. Most importantly, we want to be a group that prays for one another and looks expectantly for how God is working in each of our lives. We’ll celebrate answered prayers, support each other through difficult seasons, and encourage one another to trust God and follow where He leads.

Our small group is a place where everyone is welcome! Whether you’re new to church or have been walking with God for a long time, we’d love to have you join us. We want to grow deeper in our relationship with God and with each other, and do life together—not just on Sundays, but through the everyday joys, challenges, and everything in between. We hope to encourage, pray for, laugh with, and support one another as we grow in faith and walk with Jesus together.

This group is for any adults without children at Joy who are seeking gospel community and friendships. We'll meet together, break bread, discuss Christian book excerpts, share about our lives, and have fun group outings. And along the way, we'll learn as a group what walking side-by-side one another looks like. As Christian counselor Ed Welch wrote, "We were meant to walk side by side, an interdependent body of weak people."

This is the third season of our small group series based on the brilliant, inspired streaming phenomenon Bear Grylls says “has done so much to bring people an awareness of… the real Jesus, not the Christmas, sanitized religious versions, but the real, regular human man who gathered regular, flawed, broken, swearing, drinking, messy people to Him.” Watching seasons 1 and 2 of The Chosen are not technically prerequisites, but is -highly- encouraged to familiarize yourself with who’s who. In each meeting, we will gather to eat dinner, watch an episode, and follow with a short but rich discussion.

We gather around the table in one another's homes. Our goal is to follow Christ together — discussing Sunday's sermon, sharing the good times and the hard ones honestly, so none of us has to do this season alone. We want this to be a safe place where everyone can freely speak about their joys and their pains, in English or Korean. 영어와 한국어, 편하신 언어로 나누시면 됩니다. We ask each member to commit to faithful attendance and participation, as a way of honoring one another. We'll have fun together too, planning dinner outings, picnics, ski trips or anything else our members want to do!

Our small group is all about building genuine connections and growing together as a church family. We keep things relaxed and open. Our conversations are organic and flow naturally from Sunday’s sermon into everyday topics such as current events, family life, and youth. Whenever possible, we would love to get our youth involved. If enough youth are present, we can start each meeting by opening the floor for them to participate if they'd like. Mostly, we look forward to spending quality time together, hanging out, and supporting one another. Bilingual (Korean & English) Families with Youth & Empty Nesters “함께 웃고, 함께 나누며, 함께라서 더 풍성한 만남!!” We gather in one another’s homes to discuss the Sunday sermon, share life, and encourage one another in faith. Rooted in the truth that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10), we desire to grow together in God’s Word, build meaningful relationships, and experience faith as a community. Come as you are, and let’s grow together in faith, wisdom, and love!

Sharing Life, Faith & Encouragement A warm and welcoming space to share the joys and challenges of everyday life, connect our faith to what we’re going through, and encourage one another along the way. There’s no pressure to have all the answers—just a place where we can be real, listen, laugh, learn from one another, and grow together in faith as we navigate this season of life. We hope to build meaningful friendships, support one another, and simply enjoy doing life together. We may also choose a book or other study material together, based on what the group is interested in.

Our 2026/2027 Small Group emphasis will be on building a healthy spiritual community through acts of service, sermon discussion, breaking bread together and being vulnerable and accountable to each other. Our group is open to families (with or without children), and will usually be meeting on a bi-weekly schedule. Please note that whether you live in your parent’s attic, an apartment or home, each member will be required to host at least one small group meeting during the course of the entire small group season.

Our hope is that this group can be a place for families to connect, take a break from the busyness of life, share our burdens, and have fun! We’ll rotate between our homes and have a mix of worship, food, fellowship, and time in the Word. We’ll also have a mix of family gatherings and ladies/guys nights as a way to get to know each other better. We’re a group for families with kids in grade school and younger who want to do life and grow in faith together. We want our homes to be a place where we can be real about the joys and struggles of life, encourage and pray for one another, and grow closer to Christ in genuine community. We also hope to create a place where our kids can build friendships, have fun together, and grow in their own knowledge of and love for Jesus.

What’s Your Story? Jesus is the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and He is the One writing the story of our lives. He knows the plans He has for us - plans to prosper us and not to harm us, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Our stories are testimonies, and the sharing of these testimonies allows us to be God’s witnesses of His presence. God is always at work, writing the story of our lives. As we enter this new season, we want to discover together what He is unfolding. If you want to share your story, hear the stories of others, and explore what God is doing during this small group season, we’d love for you to join us! Our gatherings will center around meeting in one another’s homes, breaking bread together, digging into God’s Word through sermon reflection and discussion, praying with and for one another, and creating space for vulnerable and authentic sharing. We’ll laugh, cry, and walk through life together - sometimes as a full group and sometimes as men and women separately - while also finding meaningful ways to make the children’s time meaningful. If you have a desire to grow deeper in your love and knowledge of God through the discovery of your own story and the stories of others, come join us as we step into the new chapter our Father is writing in this season.

We’ve been part of Joy since our oldest was just 3 months old. Now that our youngest has flown the nest, we’re excited to embrace this new season. Our focus will be to grow deeper in faith through reading God’s Word, praying and serving. We look forward to also doing fellowship activities together and possibly maybe even a missions trip! If you’re raising HS children, have children in college or have adult children who are already out on their own, we’d love to have you join us. Our hope is to build meaningful friendships, encourage one another, and pursue God together in this season of our lives. We’ll meet every other week and take turns hosting in EACH of our respective homes. We know life can be busy and seasons can be full, but we’re hoping to build a group where we can consistently show up for one another and grow together. We’d love for you to be part of it!
